KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) has challenged Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Ieaders to take matters into their own hands in regard to the setting up of an independent investigation panel to probe the issues related to illegal immigrants in Sabah.
Its deputy president Datuk Eric Majimbun said Sabah leaders should walk the talk and not just claim commitment in pushing for the proposed Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants, which until today has yet to be set up.
He said the state government should not leave the matter solely at the mercy of their bosses in Putrajaya but find ways to set up the panel at the state level.
“If they are incapable of doing this too, the leaders should respectfully resign from their posts for failing to deliver their promises to the people," he added.
“If BN in KL continues to be reluctant to set up the RCI, we urge the state government to step up and deal with the problem themselves.
“Sabah should comply and enforce the State Commission of Inquiry 1981 or else respectfully relinquish their posts," he said in a statement issued through short messages services (SMS) here yesterday.
