SAPP ask when RCI will be formed

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) wants to know when the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will announce the formation of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah.

Its Information Chief Chong Pit Fah said they were disappointed that during the Prime Minister's recent visit to Sabah there was no word of the RCI.

"He promised to always listen to the people and said he was listening and would like to do it even more with the people's support. But is he listening when he did not care to mention about the people of Sabah's request for the RCI?" he asked.

In a statement issued here yesterday, Chong further contended that the 1Malaysia People’s Assistance (BRIM) would not eradicate poverty and uplift the people's standard of living.

"Instead the government should check and stop the escalating cost of goods and the cost of living. As it is now we are in a situation when fuel prices go up, prices of essential goods also go up instantly, but when fuel prices go down, prices of goods remain!

"If this continues, Sabah will forever be the poorest state in Malaysia as opposed to what the government declare," he said.

On the Prime Minister's recent declaration that Sabah is no longer the poorest state in Malaysia, he demanded to know which state has now taken over Sabah's position.

  1. Just wait for Najib's announcement on the RCI implementation, the federal has already express their approval so there shouldn't be a problem setting it up.

    1. I agree with you. Careful planning is needed before RCI is implemented. The people and the opposition parties must be patience.

  2. Hopefully the government will also pay attention to the cost of goods in the state as it could cause burden to the people, especially to the hard core poor.

  3. walaupun PM tidak umumkan RCI semasa melawat Sabah, ia tak bermakna RCI takkan ditubuhkan.

Just because he didn't mention about RCI doesn't mean he disapprove of the proposal to set up RCI in sabah. Just wait till he give his official statement .

    1. PM is trapped actually. If he doesn't approve RCI, the people will go against him. PM will need to make his decision wisely.

  6. since the beginning, I don't hear the government leader said that the purpose of BR1M is to eradicate poverty and uplift the people's standard of living.. but they said the BR1M will ease the burden faced by the poor people..

  8. I don't know why politicians especially from opposition side make it compulsory to announce the RCI in this state.. of course we really need it.. but to form RCI is not as easy as you said.. and even Najib can announce it in Puterajaya, in PP, in sarawak or wherever..
