KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) wants to know how long more the people have to wait before the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah is setup.
"I want to know how long more is required to prepare? Will it be until after the General Election? In as far as Sabahans are concerned we've been asking for it for more than 30 years," said Deputy President Amde Sidek in a statement.
Gommenting on the statement by United Pasok Momogun Kadazandusun Murut Orgnanisation (Upko) President Tan Sri Bernard Dompok that the delay had to do with preparatory groundwork, he said:
"Why didn't an Umno leader say it? Why are our local leaders becoming so dependent even on matters important to us?"

The federal ministers had agreed to the formation of the RCI on February 8 and had tasked Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz to co-ordinate the scope of the RCI investigation.
ReplyDeleteAt the Cabinet’s last meeting on Wednesday, February 15, a day before Najib’s Sabah trip, Nazri tabled a rough draft of the RCI’s terms of reference for discussion.
ReplyDeleteIt was discussed but the terms of reference were not finalised because Cabinet wanted input from Sabah BN parties and the state government.

DeleteAnd for that (reason), despite the huge expectation that the PM would announce the RCI on February 16, he was simply not ready to announce it.
ReplyDeleteIf Najib had announced the formation of the panel during his trip, the prime minister would have been criticised for being unable to offer clear answers on the panel’s scope of investigation and its members.

ReplyDeleteHe made the right decision in not making the announcement on that day or else more questions will arise if there is not much information regarding the RCI.

DeleteRCI is only expected to be announce in Parliament Conference scheduled on March 12 or as late as the end of Parliamentary Session on 12 April.

DeleteSAPP should not politicized this issue. just be patient, Najib will announce it on the right time.
