Sabahans ending up migrants in own country, says SAPP

MEMBAKUT: The rights of Sabahans need to be determined on their own, said SAPP Vice President Datuk Frankie Chong.

It is thus, he said, time for Sabahans to take their fate into their own hands and take the last opportunity to fight for changes with courage.

He said this to residents in Kg Sinoko here, adding that issues such as land grabbing and natives losing their land to others has never happened in the past.

This, he stressed, was among the main reasons for SAPP's pullout from BN after the last general election three years ago, to fight for the rights of Sabahans.

"We are robbed in daylight when our rights are made fun of and not taken seriously by BN leaders, be it from here or the peninsula," said Chong.

"They feed the people with sweet promises when in fact they are taking advantage of the sincerity and goodness of Sabah people."

On the RCI issue, he said leaders in PBS and Upko, and other "local" parties here are cowards because they are under the control of BN, like cows with rings in their noses.

Failure of the RCI's establishment is due to the fear of a large group of people and the aim to cover past mistakes, thus resulting in Sabah being heavily populated by illegal immigrants, he stated.

"I am worried that this would result in Sabahans becoming immigrants in their own country," Chong said.

"If we do not fight for our rights now, when? If not us, who? We fight today for the future of the next generation."

In this respect, he urged party members in Membakut to prepare themselves well for the coming general election, and to prepare their election machinery at all levels.

  2. The government will also be swapping and reclassifying the Forest Reserves in order to allowed Natives to occupy the lands for residential and agriculture purpose. Which will allow them to retain their ancestral lands.

  14. issues such as land grabbing and natives losing their land to others has already happened in the past especially during YTL tenure as chief minister of Sabah..

  15. A good example is the Tongod Region where not less than 20,000 acres of land earlier set aside for native socio-economic projects, under the ‘Tongod Regional Planning Study’, mooted during the Berjaya era, were given away to a public-listed company. this is blatant Daylight Robbery by YTL/SAPP..

  16. as a consequence, the impoverished and largely hardcore poor of Tongod lost their birthright (ancestral lands) and became ‘refugees’ on their own land, setting up ‘sulaps’ along the road bordering their stolen land, eating dust induced by passing vehicles, everyday. to add insult to injury, the mega companies that now occupy the ‘stolen’ lands, evicted them and bulldozed even their dilapidated dwellings.

now SAPP goes around trying to champion the rights and native customary lands. this is World-Class Hypocrisy!!
