KOTA KINABALU: the incumbent for the Sepanggar parliamentary seat, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) deputy president Datuk Eric Majimbun, has confirmed that he will be defending the seat in the 13th general election.
"I will be defending the Sepanggar seat in the 13th general election," he said when contacted yesterday.
"I have proven to the rakyat while in BN and the opposition that I serve them with respect and integrity irrespective of race and religion," Majimbun said.
The Sepanggar seat is considered a 'hot seat' as all local Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties have staked a claim on contesting there in the coming 13th general election.
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Organization (UPKO), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti BersatuRakyat Sabah (PBRS) have all voiced their interest in the seat.
Majimbun had won the seat on a BN ticket but the party left the coalition in 2008 taking along with them the Luyang and Likas state constituencies and the Tawau parliamentary seat.
On another matter, Majimbun expressed his shock over the news that an Indonesian teacher in Tongod had been found in possession of three Malaysian identity card numbers namely 770111-125319, H0888166 and H0556718.
According to him, the Home Minister had confirmed that the MyKad bearing the numbers 770111125319 was not in existence while the other two numbers do not belong to the teacher concerned.
"It was exposed that the trained Indonesian teacher has managed to utilize all the government funds and facilities provided for education. She also managed to bypass all the relevant authorities as the MyKad she is in possession of belonged to a deceased individual," he said.
Majimbun pointed out that the ministry mentioned that it was an offence under Order 25(1) e of the National Registration Act 1990 before asking “but to what extent the enforcement of law had been taken?"
He was of the opinion that the government know who the culprits are but no action has been taken against them.
“All these solid evidence is just the tip of the iceberg. Everyday we see and hear about unscrupulous individuals infringing our sovereignty. Malaysian Sabahans are protecting our beloved state from intruders who try to undermine our peaceful and harmonious state but what we see around us now is truly worrying," he stressed.
According to Majimbun, the BN government, especially Sabahan leaders, should tackle these problems with utmost priority as failure to resolve them will jeopardize our present and most of all our future generation.
He also was of the opinion that BN leaders might have forgotten their pledges on the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) since Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had not announced the setting up of the inquiry to look into the problem of illegal immigrants in the state.
"But true loving Sabahans are still pursuing it and we all know that the next government will definitely address the matter without fail," he said.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan wants the seat allocation issue among state Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to be discussed in a round table and not openly to ensure that the matter is solved in the spirit of BN.
ReplyDeletePairin, who is Deputy Chief Minister, said the seat allocation agreed upon by all state BN component parties in the last election should be made the basis for any discussion on the matter.
ReplyDeletePairin gave emhasis that only the parliamentary and state seats held by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) (which left the BN in September 2008) which should be discussed among the component parties,"
ReplyDeletePairin was asked to comment on the remark by Penampang Umno division chief Datuk John Ambrose on Sunday that there was a need for the BN to relook into its seat allocation formula.
ReplyDeleteAmbrose said the BN should do away with the usual practice of re-allocating seats to component parties which had contested them in previous elections, saying that this practice would do more harm than good for the BN because the parties would still be able to recontest regardless of whether they had a winnable candidate or not.
ReplyDeletePairin said, "He is free to express his view but it is better that this issue is discussed in a round table."
ReplyDeleteKalau boleh dibawa berbincang then apa salahnya kan. Tak payah bising2 tak pasal2 timbul pula ketegangan. hihi
DeleteOn the intentions expressed by several BN component parties to contest the Sepanggar parliamentary seat, Pairin said, "Like other component parties, PBS is also keen to field a candidate for the seat."
ReplyDeleteSure Majimbun will lose that seat
ReplyDeleteBiar rakyat yang putuskan. Tapi bahaya tu kalau over konfiden:P
DeleteJangan telebih konfiden, nanti malu:P Politik ni sukar diramal. hehe
ReplyDeleteKita tunggu dulu next GE, sabar... Rakyat pasti akan buat kejutan yang membanggakan.
ReplyDeleteSoal guru Tongod tu harap dapat disiasat dengan teliti. Jangan dibiarkan saja.
ReplyDeletedulu Majimbun menang pun atas tiket BN. kalau bukan kerana nama BN SAPP takkan menang. kini kita tgk mampukah mereka menang bersendirian?
