SAPP bukan parti Cina: Amdee

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP) pada Jumaat menjelaskan bahawa ia bukan sebuah parti politik Cina.

Timbalan Presidennya, Amdee Sidik, berkata ia adalah sebuah parti politik bukan berasaskan kaum dan ini jelas dalam perlembagaan parti itu.

"Kami menekankan semula pandangan pelbagai kaum ini selepas SAPP menarik diri daripada Barisan Nasional (BN) dimana tidak ada satu-satu kaum mendominasi kaum lain dalam majlis tertinggi parti," katanya dalam satu kenyataan.

Beliau menambah tidak ada parti lain di Sabah yang mempunyai komposisi seperti itu.

"Saya mudah marah apabila orang dan ahli politik pembangkang lain berkata SAPP adalah sebuah parti politik Cina.

"Saya fikir pemimpin-pemimpin SAPP berhak untuk didengar suara mereka bahawa SAPP adalah sebuah parti politik bukan kaum yang boleh dilihat dalam perlembagaan parti itu sejak ia ditubuhkan," katanya.

Mengenai perkembangan lain, katanya, penganjur parti berpangkalan di Sarawak, Parti Reformasi Negeri (Star), sepatutnya telah mengkaji dan meneliti semua sudut khususnya kelemahan dari segi undang-undang ketika ia melebarkan sayapnya ke Sabah.

Ini, katanya, selepas mengetahui kemungkinan ia dihalang oleh pihak berkuasa.

Rakyat Sabah, katanya, dilayan secara tidak adil.

"Sangat sukar untuk mendapat kelulusan daripada pihak berkuasa untuk sebuah parti politik di Sabah," katanya sebelum menambah lebih-lebih lagi jika permohonan itu adalah dari pemimpin-pemimpin terkenal tempatan dan jika orang itu seorang Muslim.

"Kerana itu saya fikir Usno tidak akan didaftarkan selagi Umno masih ada di Sabah," tegasnya.

SAPP to Raise SAS issue again in coming state assembly sitting

TAWAU: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) will again raise the Saham Amanah Sabah (SAS) issue in the State Legislative Assembly (SLA) sitting in November and call for a white paper to reveal who was responsible for the shares losses amounting to RM500 million.

SAPP Women chief Melanie Chia said it was an issue which the Barisan Nasional (BN) had not tackled and Tawau people were talking on the issue.

"Last year in the April and August state assembly sittings, Datuk Liew Teck Chan tabled a motion for a white paper on SAS. It was first put in the agenda but in the sitting we had a technical knock-out. We assumed it would be discussed in the sitting but instead it was not discussed even after the government matters," she said yesterday at a press conference.

In August last year, she said SAPP submitted the same motion.

"This time because of media coverage, they allowed it to be tabled and discussed. They asked Datuk Raymond Tan to speak on behalf of the government. Only two persons from the state government spoke on the SAS and both were from PBS (Parti Bersatu Sabah). No one from Umno spoke," she said.

Melanie said Datuk Yee Moh Chai and Datuk Herbert Timbun repeatedly accused SAPP president Datuk Yong Teck Lee on what happened to the SAS shares.

KOTA KINABALU: The guarantee that no chief minister can sign away huge tracts of land, forests and mines to private interests was put in place on June 17, 1996, said Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee, yesterday.

He recounted that it was when the Sabah Legislative Assembly transferred the chief minister's powers to the Cabinet by amending the Sabah Land Ordinance, the Forest Enactment and the Mining Ordinance.

He said he was the chief minister who moved the motion to amend the iaws which was passed by the State Assembly and that the chief minister's powers have since been transferred to the Cabinet.

He added that it was done three weeks after he was appointed as chief minister in view of the massive abuse of powers like the award of the 347 acres of sea front land to a company registered in the British Virgin Island which allowed secret shareholders.

"The land, now known as Sutera Harbour, was applied for in 1993 and the land title was issued in super speed the same year. The premium paid was about seven million ringgit. The same land was then charged to a bank for more than 40 million US dollars. All these were done towards the closing days of the PBS administration.

"Another piece of the sea, opposite the First Beach near Shangri-La's Tanjong Aru Resort, was approved by the 1993 Chief Minister was to a KL company. Even the Maliau Basin, now a protected Heritage Site, was approved for coal mine exploration to an Australian company. All these were never known to the Cabinet at the time.

Can be done even now: SAPP

KOTA KINABALU: The State Government can approve land leases for a term of 999 years if the original land master title has a tenure of  999 years without any need for changes to the law.

Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Deputy President Datuk Liew Teck Chan said it has been done before so there is no need for any delay "because it is only a matter of whether the government wants to honour the 999 tenure or not."

Liew who is also Likas Assemblyman was referring to the request by the Sabah Housing and ReaI Estate Developers Association (Shareda) that the State Government revert the land leases for country leases and town leases after subdivision to the originai 999 tenure.

Liew said the Chief Minister was reported to have said that the Cabinet needs to discuss first because the 999-year lease requires legislation.

"In fact, in my Likas constituency, Taman Seputeh with 230 units of houses were issued Iand titles with 999-year lease by the then Chief Minister, DatukYong Teck Lee in 1992.

"The premiun charged per house was RM1,000 and annual quit rent at RM90. This reasonable rate has made it possible for the houseowners to own the houses after the abandoned project was revived by the then State Government," he said in a statement, Monday.

支部主席陈兆周致词时表示,沙巴州已沦落为最贫穷一州,虽然地上有油,西马抽去我们的财富,回馈給我们的不成正比。

他说,斗湖沒有一条好路,若他们執政,他们高升区必定要做好道路。

他形容現在政府如烂衣已穿数十年已烂完了,虽然补來补去,也补不好,也有烂疤,已不能再补,要換过一件新衣,他会目前还在与民联协商,进展如何还看该党党主席拿督楊德利的进展。
