Welcome the recent instruction by Chairman of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abd Samad, to the agency’s Housing Unit to take immediate action to repair the old houses of settlers.
Isa gave the instruction during a Felda Hari Raya gathering at the Umas Settlement of scheme in Tawau recently.
Although the instruction should have been given one or two years ago, it is better late than never, Some of the houses are indeed damaged, leaking and so on. To illustrate rny point, a few settlers and their families are staying at the hawker stalls at Felda Settlment Scheme in Sahabat, Tungku, Lahad Datu.
However, it is hoped that the instruction was not lip-service or only for publicity. How fast Felda Sabah will take action, or whether they would act at all, remains to be seen.
