KOTA KINABALU: Luyang assemblywoman Melanie Chia pointed out that government departments should not be arguing who should be responsible for the manhole at Mile 7, Jalan Tuaran Bypass that claimed the life of an eight-year-oldboy.
"There is only one government. No matter which government department it is they are all under one government.
“After the tragedy, the most important thing is to immediately cover up the manhole, and not to wait for investigation, and let another tragedy occurs," she argued.
Melanie said this during her visit to the Tiong Hua Funeral Parlour with Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) deputy president cum Likas assemblyman Datuk Liew Teck Chan here yesterday.
Mayor Datuk Abidin Madingkir yesterday said he had instructed officers to investigate the scene where the boy was killed.
Officers from City Hall would ascertain whether the site was under City Hall or other government departments.
She also urged the government to look at the people's problems seriously, especially when it is a matter of life and death.
