KOTA KINABALU: It is not fair to ask the people to blame themselves when leaders created the fault, said Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Deputy President Amde Sidik.
"Ordinary citizens on the street aren't in the know, and they expect leaders to be intelligent and far sighted enough to think about the future of the State," he said in rebuking reasons citied by Assembly Speaker Datuk Salleh Said Keruak, also a former Chief Minister.
He said the leaders should have taken initiative to remedy the situation when realising the mistake and not playing hide and seek with politics.
Giving reasons like, why many illegal immigrants in Sabah given ICs because they have long distant families in this country or the leaders of this State had brothers are to me lame duck answers," he said.
On the issue of Petronas royalty, Salleh Said must know all agree ments of this nature are human made, and, therefore, it can always be unmade or remade.
"Salleh shouldn't feel embarrassed if there are people in the Facebook or blogs highlighting characters of certain leaders in the country, especially if they haven't done anything wrong.
"By the way Internet penetration in Sabah is 33 percent according to Datuk Yee Moh Chai, Deputy Chief Minister last year. I think it's less," he said.
Meanwhile, SAPP Treasurer General Dullie Marie, said State Speaker Datuk Seri Salleh Tun Said should not suffer from a denial syndrome over the issue of huge presence of PTI statewide.
"Hundred thousands of PTI keep on coming into Sabah due to the special treatment given by Umno, which is backed by leaders in Kuala Lumpur since Umno spread its wings to the State,” he alleged.
Salleh had said there was no need for Sabah to fear it would lose its autonomy or the people their rights.
He also said that the many illegal immigrants getting MyKad here was due to their blood relationship with certain leaders and ordinary locals.
Salleh also blamed local land owners for selling their assets for quick bucks resulting in many lands fell in the hands of Private companies from Kuala Lumpur.
Salleh also blamed past leaders for signing the oil royalty agreement, which gave 95 per cent revenues to Kuala Lumpur via Petronas.
The oil royalty agreement was signed by then Chief Minister Datuk Harris Salleh (now Tan Sri) and witnessed by Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan (now Tan Sri) in 1976.

You cannot undone the past, but you can improve the situation if you have the will and guts.
Delete".. many illegal immigrants getting MyKad here was due to their blood relationship with certain leaders and ordinary locals."
ReplyDeleteTidak setuju pun susah juga sebab kalau bukan ini alasannya, napa puak pati tu cepat sangat merebak.
Now our best bet is for the RCI to be implemented. Hopefully Najib will finalize the terms of reference as soon as possible so that the RCI can be implemented before the next general elections.
DeleteI can imagine already how sabah condition would be if we are outnumbered by the illegal immigrants...and its not a good one.
DeleteSalleh also blamed local land owners for selling their assets for quick bucks resulting in many lands fell in the hands of Private companies from Kuala Lumpur.
ReplyDeleteActually I agree with Salleh's statement on this, there are indeed many locals who sell of their lands to companies for quick profit rather than developing it themselves, those who did so should not blame anyone else but themselves since no one is forcing them to sell their lands. This cannot be denied.
There are also those who received government aids in form of fertilizers, diesel, fishing boats and such who sold off these items to businessmen for money instead of using all that to improve their own earnings.
Of course not all of them are like that, but this is what happened.
ReplyDeleteOn royalties, I suggest just discussion between both parties to find what is the best. If royalties are not added, various forms of assistance given as now we have seen the development of mega projects to provide opportunities for the people of Sabah itself. As SOGT and SAMUR.
ReplyDeleteLeaders play an important role to implement the government's efforts. So to prove that leaders can give the best to the people.
ReplyDelete""On the issue of Petronas royalty, Salleh Said must know all agreements of this nature are human made, and, therefore, it can always be unmade or remade.""
ReplyDeleteso why not unmade or remade it during YTL tenure as chief minister of Sabah??
if I'm not mistaken, Datuk Salleh never said that the rakyat should be blamed themselves..
ReplyDeleteSAPP should also admit their mistakes due to the problems that has become critical nowadays..
