B’ford pineapple growers losing income to disease

BEAUFORT: Several pineapple tamu operators in Kg Lampaki Bakau are getting desperate over loss of income due to a getting desperate over loss of income due to a disease which has affected the growth of their pineapple.

According to Iskandar Kandawai, pineapple proprietors are losing their patience and urged the Government and agencies concerned to take immediate action to solve the issue.

Pineapple operators used to earn RM3,000 from their harvest but had been badly affected following the disease.

Many are left wondering on the outcome from the investigation conducted by the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board and the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development  Institute.
“We are only to wait whenever we make an inquiry on the matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, Parti Maju Sabah Lumadan Division Chairman Jamain Sarudin urged agencies concerned to look into the matter immediately.

    I suggest that these planters look to University students such as those who studied agriculture to see if they have any idea what's causing the disease and what are the solutions to it. This can give them a good opportunity to get hands on practice.

      That would be a good alternative instead waiting the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board and the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute.

    Hopefully the disease problem can be resolved so that the Beaufort Pineapple production can go back to their previous success.

    masalah yang dihadapi pekebun nenas prlu diselesaikan segara. perlu disiasat punca jangkitan tersebut dan cari penyelesaiannya.
