RANAU: A new site for vegetable stalls in Kundasang town is in order as it is one of the main economy centres for residents there.
Kundasang SAPP Youth Chief, Shaifful Azmie Jamil said the existing stalls situated the KK-Kundasang-Ranau main road are not safe for people as traffic flow is heavy along the road.
"The stalls are very near to the road and pose risks to vendors, the public and tourists, as well as drivers who pass by the area.
"The road is also always congested as there is not enough parking space for trucks, tour buses as well as all vehicles passing by, " he stated.
Shaifful called for a strategic and safe site to be built as soon as possible, in line with Kundasang's image as a tourism spot and one of thd State's main vegetable producers.
He said the Tamu ground location which is in operation every Friday also needs to be re-looked into, as the existing one also causes massive congestion when traders and customers gather.
He said there is yet to be a definite answer on where the new vegetable selling site would be.
"This matter has to be look at seriously as the majority of residents count on farming and agriculture as their main income," he said.
Meanwhile, Kundasang Assemblyman, Dr. Joachim Gunsalam said a meeting regarding the issue and relocation of the site would be held soon.
"We need complete information from the Public Works Department'on which area is deemed safe and suitable for this site, and construction works will immediately commence once all that is settled," he said.
He urged the community to be patient as a thorough study is needed to find and have the best place for people to sell and buy vegetables and so on.

Sokong 100%. as a local to this area there should be a proper places to relocate the existing stalls situated currently along the KK-Kundasang-Ranau road. If possible build a systematic complex for the benefit not only to the seller but also the buyers. Pls. make note that all the seller in this premises must be local to this area. Outsider..sorry not for you guys..Respect the local people-traders first before consider outsiders. BUT make sure there will be no PTI doing their business in the new site. Ini kali lah!..
