SAPP to launch Land Reformation Policy Nov 8

Tawau: The Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) will launch its Land Reformation Policy which promises to settle the many problems faced by Sabahans on land tenure and Native Customary Right (NCR) at the State capital on Nov 8, according to SAPP Vice President Datuk Eric  Majimbun.

Majimbun, who is also the organising chairman for the policy, said at a press conference they wilI be able affected by the land problems.

"As we can see today, the land rights of the people are diminishing by the day and we need to stand our ground to protect them,” he said.

He also said those land leases reduced from 999 years to only 99 years will be among the issues touched by the policy and they will fight to reinstate the 999 years lease.

“Who the approval for the reduction tenure from 999 to only 99?” he asked.

Tawau MP Datuk Chua Soon Bui said the are about 800 cases of land issues received by Suhakam for the state and cases handled by herself had shown  that nearly 200,000 acres of NCR land being discriminately disturbed and victimising over a thousand natives.

Meanwhile SAPP Wanita Chief, Melanie Chia also touched on the Saham Amanah Sabah (SAS) which had received the “silent” rea ction from the Umno representatives in the State Assembly.

When we raised the matter for a solution to overcome the calamity face by shareholders, we received a silent response, excep for representatives from the Parti Bersatu Sabah," said Chia.
